Minimum Requirements

  • Full/Part-Time or Summer Nanny
  • Babysitter/Group Care/Sick Care
  • Newborn/Infant Care
  • 20 years old
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2 years of previous, professional child care experience
  • Ability to make a one year commitment to the family (nannies only)
  • Legal right to work in the U.S. w/o limitation (citizen or permanent resident/green card)
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Social Security card
  • CPR certification (Nannies of Kansas City have partners who provide training for a nominal fee)
  • Fluent in the English language (Bi-lingual nannies are in demand!)
  • Competent swimmer (preferred)
  • Non-smoker (preferred)

Salaries

Full-Time Nanny*

  • Permanent position working 5 days/week – Approximately 40 hours
  • Salary – between $20 and $30 per hour depending on experience and job requirements

Part-Time and Summer Nanny*

  • Permanent position working no more than 27 hours/week
  • Salary – between $20 and $30 per hour depending on experience and job requirements

* Salary is negotiated between the nanny and the family. Family may make the offer direct or use the agency as the conduit. All nannies are employees of the family. The family is responsible for withholding taxes.

Benefits

Benefits are generally reserved for full time nannies, and in special situations, part time nannies. About ½ of our clients offer a benefit package; some at the time of hiring and others after a pre-determined length of employment. Benefits are at the sole discretion of the employer. Below is a sampling of benefits some of our clients offer nannies:

Babysitters, Newborn, Group & Sick Care

Babysitter/Family Care

  • $18/hour – 1 to 2 children
  • $20/hour – 3 to 4 children
  • 5+ children – agency discretion

Newborn Caregiver Fee:

  • 1 newborn – $22 per hour
  • 1-2 siblings plus the newborn – $24/hour
  • 3-4 siblings plus the newborn – $26/hour
  • 5+ siblings plus the newborn – agency discretion

Group Care

  • Churches and Synagogues – $17-19/hour
  • Weddings, Hotels and Corporate – $20-25/hour

Sick Care

  • Additional $5.00/hour

Day Care Substitutes

  • $17-20/hour

-4 hour minimum with exception of overnight or 24 hour stay

-mileage reimbursement if transportation is required

-any parking costs incurred by sitters

-Babysitter/new born care/ sick care are time and a half on all major holidays including New Year’s Eve and Valentine’s Day.

Placement Process

We follow an 8-step process to ensure you, and the family, will be well matched.

  1. After reviewing your application we contact you to discuss options and learn more about what you’re looking for.
  2. If our conversation is encouraging we invite you to our office for an in-depth interview. Plan on 1½ to 2 hours.
  3. Following the interview we begin extensive background and reference checks.
  4. Once completed, we begin matching you with families.
    NOTE: This process may take time. Families are particular and so are we. Families want to hire someone who becomes an integral part of their children’s lives. We want to make sure your personality and ideas fit those of the family you’ll be working for, and to make sure you get off on the right foot.
  5. When we identify a possible match, we give you the name and telephone number of the family.
  6. You call and set up an appointment for an interview. The family may be interviewing several candidates, so make sure your first impression is a good impression.
  7. When the family makes a decision they may contact you with their offer or they may contact us and we will call you with their offer.
  8. If the offer is acceptable, a start date is established, paperwork completed and you’re on your way to a fantastic opportunity with a wonderful family.
